The sportswriter who covers the Phillies for the Intelligencer and Bucks County Courier-Times, Kevin Cooney, says he was shocked to learn that long-time Philadelphia Daily News baseball writer and sports columnist Bill Conlin is the latest sports world figure accused of sexually abusing children.
Sewer rates are on the way up in Montgomeryville. The township supervisors Monday night approved advertisement of a 10% rate increase for the Municipal Sewer Authority. Formal approval is expected to come at their Januray 3rd meeting. Authority officials say rates went up 5% last year but that increase proved insufficient in the face of the sour economy as well as the high cost of labor and materials. They also say increasing regulation by the state does not help much either. The 10% rate hike will cost the average residential sewer authority customer abouyt $40 a year.
