Public Hearing Delayed Again in Montgomery Township

There's been another delay for the public hearing about a proposed cell phone antennae array that T-Mobiile wants to put on top of an existing Peco Energy transmission tower near Goodwin Lane and Lower State Road in Montgomeryville.   The township supervisors Monday night continued the proceedings until November 14th after having already rescheduled the hearing last month.   Township solicitor Frank Bartle says it's somewhat unusual for an applicant to request a second continuance and notes that the township supervisors don't want any more delays.   Bartle adds he does not know why T-Mobile has asked for a second delay but says there could be an issue with its lease on the existing Peco tower or witnesses that would testify on its behalf may be unavailable until November.   The 9 antennas T-Mobile wants to put on top of the Peco Energy structure would be mounted on a 10 foot tower extension.

Restructured Contract for NP Support Staff

More than 1,000 unionized support staff workers in the North Penn School District have a restructured labor contract.   The school board approved it Tuesday night.   The settlement offers job security for the next three years in exchange for two six month pay freezes.   Without it, the school board was prepared to layoff 13 union members.   Every organized employee group in the district has accepted pay freezes except for the teachers.   The school board demoted 36 of them to cut costs after it was unable to reach an agreement with their union.

Safety Concerns Near Whites Road Pool in Lansdale

Lansdale officials are raising concerns about traffic safety along Whites Road near the entrance into the community pool.   Even with crossing guards present, it seems some motorists have difficulty seeing pedestrians in the street and there have been a few near misses.   Borough Council Member Mike Sobel says the road is on a hill and that's part of the problem but speeding is an issue too.   He says Lansdale Police will be watching to make sure motorists obey the 25-mile per hour speed limit.   He also says the borough traffic consultant will conduct a study to see what can be done about the hill.
