A former Towamencin Township resident is accused of killing a man and a woman in June of last year. 18-year-old Khailyl Chambers is charged with two counts of first degree murder and related offenses. 31-year-old Brian Palmer of Norristown and 22-year-old Jackie Scott of Wyndmoor were ambushed as they left the Roo House Tavern on Willow Street in Norristown around closing time. Court documents say Chambers shot Scott twice at close range, and then turned and shot Palmer in the cheek, neck, arms, leg and hip. Evidence found at the scene indicates that some shots were fired at Palmer after he crawled under a car seeking cover. During a lengthy investigation, detectives found that he bragged about the execution-style killings. The apparent motive was revenge. Five days earlier the defendant’s 19-year-old cousin, Ryan Banjoman of Norristown, died when she flew off the passenger seat of a motorcycle and into the Schuylkill River when the driver hit a concrete guardrail on the Dannehower Bridge on Route 202. Chambers wanted to get the driver, but investigators found that Palmer and Scott had no known connection to Banjoman’s death. A little over a month ago 21-year-old Julian Mansfield of Norristown pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle in that incident.
