A Conshohocken man has been found guilty of third degree murder, but mentally ill, for beating his wife to death while their seven-year-old son watched. A psychologist and psychiatrist testified in Montgomery County Court, saying 46-year-old Joseph Giongo suffered from a major depressive disorder and psychosis when he killed his wife Bernadette, who was 42 at the time the incident occurred in December of 2007. The beating allegedly started after the couple argued about a takeout food order. When the boy tried to call for help, his father pulled out the phone cord. He has a history of mental problems.
