A man who admitted stealing from the Warrington-Warwick Athletic Association’s girls’ basketball league is going to jail. 59-year-old accountant Joseph Anderson of Warrington stole more than $70,000 from the league while serving as president and treasurer over a five-year period ending last year. He admitted taking proceeds from basketball tournaments and also writing checks to himself from the club’s bank accounts. Police started investigating after an audit by the Central Bucks School District found money missing. 49-year-old Stephen Feeley of Warwick was also accused of stealing money from the Warrington-Warwick Boys’ Basketball Association while he was treasurer, and he is awaiting trial in Bucks County Court. The total amount stolen from both leagues over a four-year period was about $159,000. The leagues are affiliated, but operated separately with different bank accounts, and there is no evidence that either man knew about the other man’s alleged crimes.
