Serial DUI Offender Gets State Prison Time

DDA Lansdale woman who admitted nearly killing a motorcyclist while driving drunk has been given four to ten years in state prison. 31-year-old Deborah Kiesel of Poplar Street pleaded guilty to DUI, aggravated assault by vehicle and other offenses earlier this year in Bucks County Court.  She admitted pulling from a parking lot, crossing the center line, and colliding with a motorcycle in early May on Route 202 in Chalfont.  Her blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit for driving.  The motorcyclist, Robert Dando of Chalfont, is confined to a wheelchair with serious leg injuries, and his wife says one leg may have to be amputated.  Court documents show that Kiesel pleaded guilty to another DUI in April, less than two weeks before the May offense, which was her fourth.  The third one happened late last year when she ran her car off of Allentown Road in West Rockhill Township.  She had one in 2001 in Bucks County and Another in 1999 in Montgomery County.  Her lawyer says she has been battling alcoholism and mental illness for years.
