A Conshohocken Police Sergeant is accused of skimming off parking meter proceeds while assisting a parking enforcement officer on weekly coin retrieval rounds. 46-year-old Anthony Santoro is charged with theft and other offenses stemming from the year-long scheme. Montgomery County Detectives started investigating in July, after Conshohocken Police Chief Michael Orler saw Santoro move a filled manila envelope from his patrol car to his personal car immediately after returning from a coin collection assignment. Detectives confronted him last Friday, December 17, after watching him travel around the borough emptying parking meters with the parking enforcement officer. A search of his vehicle turned up more than 386 dollars in coins that he had skimmed, in handfuls, while the parking enforcement officer was not with him. He admitted stealing coins on 14 occasions, starting in October of last year. He has been suspended without pay.
