2 Plead Guilty In U Gwynedd Shootout

gunTwo men have admitted taking part in an Upper Gwynedd home-invasion that led to a shootout. 24-year-old Niochie Lawson and 21-year-old Jakal Stone, both of Maryland, pleaded guilty to robbery and other offenses.  Each man will serve 10 to 20 years in state prison.  The incident happened on June 9, 2010 at a home on Hancock Road near North Wales Road.  Police say three men, who had been hiding in an outdoor shed, ambushed 32-year-old Jermaine Edwards in his driveway as he arrived home with two daughters, ages nine and eleven at the time, and forced them into the house at gunpoint.  Court documents say his wife, Jolene Edwards, called him while he was driving home to say the security alarm in the shed had gone off.  He told her to get his Glock nine millimeter handgun, which he slipped from her pocket inside the house.  When she went upstairs to put the girls to bed a gunfight broke out between her husband and the intruders, leaving one robber dead and two robbers and Edwards wounded.  Prosecutors found that Jermaine Edwards was legally justified in using deadly force to protect himself and his family.
