A third person has died as a result of the shooting incident on Saturday, July 2, in a rural area of Douglass Township, near Renninger and Hoffmansville Roads north of Gilbertsville. 58-year-old Monica Shay was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon at Lehigh Valley Hospital. Her nephew, 43-year-old Joseph Shay, who lived in New York City and Yarmouth, Massachusetts, and two-year-old Gregory Bosco, also died. The boy’s mother, 37-year-old Kathryn Erdmann of Fall River, Massachusetts, is hospitalized in critical condition along with 64-year-old Paul Shay, who owned the Douglass Township home where the shootings occurred, along with his wife Monica, the woman who died Thursday. The Shays lived and worked in New York City but spent weekends at their rural retreat. The man who shot all of the victims, 51-year-old career criminal Mark Geisenheyner (pictured here), died of police gunfire two days later inside a home in Trainer, in Delaware County. In the hours between the multiple shootings and his death, Geisenheyner told several people he went to the home seeking revenge against Paul Shay, who he said cheated him out of money he was owed as a result of a 2006 insurance fraud scheme.
