Man Gets Jail Time For Drunken Beating, Robbery

A Montgomery Township man who admitted his role in beating and robbing a man who gave him a ride home from a bar on New Year’s Day has been given one to two years in prison, followed by three years on probation. 22-year-old Kareem Moore pleaded guilty to a felony robbery charge in Montgomery County Court.  Prosecutors say he and a co-defendant, 21-year-old Jamal Bell of Hatfield, took advantage of a man who offered them a ride home from the Hattricks Sports Bar on Lincoln Avenue in Hatfield Borough after celebrating the New Year.  The blood-covered victim was found early in the morning on January 1 inside his vehicle, outside the Hatfield Village Apartments.  He told police one man, who was in the back seat, grabbed him from behind and punched him 30 to 40 times on the head and face while the second man, in the front seat, took his wallet and cell phone from his pockets.  Police identified Bell and Moore after viewing surveillance video from the bar, and investigators found that bell did the beating.  Moore’s lawyer said his client was a good kid who never would have committed the crime if he had not been completely drunk.
