Closed Montco Country Club Goes To Pot

Charlie_PattersonA South-Central Pennsylvania man is accused of setting up a marijuana farm on the grounds of a Montgomery County country club that went out of business a few years ago. 48-year-old Charlie Patterson (pictured here) of Gardners, in Adams County, is charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, defiant trespass and other offenses.  Prosecutors say he had four separate pot patches with deer alarms, netting and large green drums of water for irrigating the plants on the grounds of the former Cedarbrook Hill Country Club, just off Route 309 in the Wyncote section of Cheltenham Township.  Overgrown shrubs and other vegetation hid the operation from public view, but a motion-activated camera caught him in the act of tending his garden.  Members of the Montgomery County Drug Task Force and Cheltenham Police seized 260 live marijuana plants ranging in length from about one foot to six feet.
