Former Chalfont Borough Councilman William Kuder has been removed from office. He was convicted of molesting a child and is currently serving three to ten years in prison. The state constitution bars sentenced felons from holding public office. Earlier this year a Bucks County jury found him guilty of molesting a 12-year-old boy. Police said the 49-year-old Kuder lured the victim into his Jasen Drive home in 2002, asking for help with fixing a computer, before he fondled the boy.
The victim, now 21 years old, said Kuder touched him in his private area before pulling his pants down and fondling him again. The boy did not tell anyone about the incident until April of last year, when he told his sister and a criminal investigation started. A key piece of prosecution evidence was a conversation between Kuder and the victim, secretly recorded in June of last year with court permission. In the recording he apologized repeatedly for what he had done. Kuder was a neighbor and a friend of the boy’s family.
