Man Who Struck Teen Gets 10 Days

A young driver who admitted striking and seriously injuring a 16-year-old boy in March of 2010 just off the Wissahickon High School campus has been given ten days to 23 months in Montgomery County Prison. 21-year-old Derrick Glenn of Philadelphia pleaded guilty to assault and other offenses late last year.

Prosecutors say he ran a stop sign, pushed the accelerator to the floor and hit the victim on a sidewalk at Knight and Houston Roads in Lower Gwynedd after a school dance, and then sped away.  Victim Robert Stevens of Ambler was thrown onto the car’s hood and roof and he fell to the pavement, suffering serious injuries.

Stevens and his friends had just left a fundraiser and dance for Ebony Dorsey, a 14-year-old Wissahickon High School freshman who was killed in December of 2007 by her mother’s boyfriend, Mark O’Donnell.  He is serving life in prison without parole.
