A former Norristown landlord who admitted spying on his female tenants with hidden cameras and microphones has been released from state prison. Court documents say 49-year-old Thomas Daley was paroled May 13 and is living with a family member in Montgomery County.

He pleaded guilty three years ago to multiple counts of invasion of privacy and violations of the Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Act.  The charges resulted from an investigation into a complaint from a tenant in a Stanbridge Street building he owned.  Investigators found tiny “pinhole” cameras hidden behind mirrors, in cabinets and in ceiling fans in the bedrooms, bathrooms and living rooms of three apartments, all occupied by women.

Some cameras were activated when the tenant turned on a light switch, and he could also turn them on and off with a computer in his Phoenixville home.  Some fed video recorders in the basement, which he kept locked.  He could also monitor the cameras from his home.  Detectives later found hidden cameras in about a dozen apartments in five Norristown buildings he owned.
