Men Accused Of Stealing Railroad Hardware

Two Souderton men are accused of stealing railroad tie-downs, which are pieces of steel hardware that hold the rails onto the ties. 20-year-old Trevor Allem and 23-year-old Zachary Woodward are charged with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly taking the tie-downs from the Pennsylvania North Eastern Railroad Line near Hedgerow Drive in Franconia Township.  The men told police they sold 115 pieces, weighing 920 pounds, for $133.40 in cash to a Sellersville area scrap metal dealer, and they did not believe what they did was illegal.
