An off-duty state trooper is accused of driving drunk and killing a young woman more than two months ago. 40-year-old Barry Searfoss of Coatesville is charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence in the crash that killed 21-year-old Robin Williams of Philadelphia on May 18.
He ran his Toyota Tacoma pickup truck into the rear end of her Lincoln Town Car on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Upper Dublin Township, between the Willow Grove and Fort Washington Interchanges, when she pulled onto the shoulder because of engine trouble. Prosecutors say his blood alcohol level was .188, which is more than twice the legal limit for driving.
Witnesses say he had been drinking through the afternoon and into the night at the Five Ponds Golf Course in Warminster, where he took part in a charity golf outing in memory of Phebe Blessington of Hatboro, a singer who was killed at the age of 30 in a 1997 crash involving a drunken driver near the Warminster West Diner on Street Road.
