A Bucks County man who admitted having an inappropriate and illegal relationship with a female student at a private school on the Main Line has been given 25 days already served to 23 months in Montgomery County Prison, followed by three years probation.

51-year-old James Civello of Upper Black Eddy pleaded guilty to corrupting a minor.  

He coached the squash team at the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, and the victim was a 16-year-old girl who played on the team.

She told Lower Merion Township Police they had sex in the spring of last year in several places including the Guest Suites Hotel in Bryn Mawr, SEPTA’s Haverford Train Station and the victim’s Lower Merion home.  His lawyer argued against further prison time, saying Civello has lost his career and is about to lose his marriage, and that’s punishment enough.
