An Upper Gwynedd man has admitted his role in running a large methamphetamine ring that involved 32 people, including 23 from Montgomery County.
43-year-old Francesco “Frank” Messina of Garfield Avenue in Upper Gwynedd pleaded guilty to multiple felony drug charges.
County detectives and the Lansdale, Hatfield, Souderton and Lower Providence Police Departments conducted an investigation leading to their arrests last spring.
The investigation started late last year when authorities received information about drug activity operating out of 42-year-old Jeff Penna’s home on Cabin Road in Hatfield Township. Others allegedly involved were his 35-year-old brother, Dave Penna of Valley Forge Road in Towamencin, and Messina, who lived at the time on Schwab Road in Hatfield Township.
Based on wiretaps of cell phones including his, police executed search warrants at 14 locations including Cosmos Motors, Messina’s auto body shop on East Blaine Street in Lansdale, which prosecutors say was the hub of a drug-dealing network that extended into Philadelphia.
