The Montgomery Township Fire Department and additional companies, along with The Montgomery County Hazardous Materials Team were called to Route 309 in the area of Mele avenue after an 18-wheeler hauling industrial cleaner. The incident happened just after 12 in the morning on Thursday. The fire crews cleaned up the spill with the use of sand and oil dry. Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion. Police opened route 309 in the area of the spill at 5:30. Fire crews were able to prevent the substance from flowing down storms drains.
