The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department is slowly chipping away at the money that’s owed to families for child support. Since the amnesty week started on the 10th, 24 parents have paid 1,000 dollars, but those 24 still owe 450-thousand dollars. sheriff Eileen Behr says, the amnesty week ends Friday (today) at 4:15.
“Then starting monday morning, the 17th, leaving very early in the morning our triple warrant team will be on the streets serving warrants and then there will be no option. there is a judge that volunteered her time and cleared her schedule to hear the cases.”
Nearly 400 parents owe child support. The total amount owed to families is more than 5-million dollars.
