Father John Roebuck, who was stationed at saint Stanislaus church in Lansdale, will face trial after waiving a preliminary hearing in connection with a December 15th incident at the North Penn Y.M.C.A. Police say, on the evening on December 15th, Roebuck began talking to a man who just lifted weights.
The man told police he felt uncomfortable, because Roebuck was allegedly watching him shower. The man then went to the sauna and Roebuck followed, sitting next to him and pulling home close to him. The man left the sauna to wash his face, but Roebuck again appeared behind him, but when the man shook Roebuck’s hand to say goodbye, Roebuck allegedly grabbed his genitals, asking the man, ”do you want, since we’re all alone I thought maybe we could.”
According to a police report, the man rejected Roebuck’s sexual advances and reported the incident to the front desk. Roebuck denied to North Penn Y.M.C.A officials what he had done, but later admitted his behavior to Lansdale Police. Roebuck, 64 years old, turned himself in to police on January 17th, just days after a warrant was issued.
A trial date has not been set. Roebuck is free on 50,000 dollars unsecured bail.
