Ten ironworkers from Local 401 in Philadelphia face charges stemming from a Federal investigation concerning intimidation,
and accounts of assaults that were carried out to sway construction companies to hire union ironworkers. Two Bucks County men are among the group of ironworkers charged.
Federal prosecutors say, 43-year-old, Christopher Prophet of Richboro and 43-year-old, Francis O’Donnell, of Warminster, organized extortion and destroyed property at a King of Prussia construction site and attempted to set fire to a construction site in Malvern. The indictment also accuses the men of beating two non-union workers with baseball bats.
The ten defendants face a long list of charges, including conspiracy to commit criminal acts, arson and destruction of property. The ten ironworkers, if convicted, could face between 15 and 35 years in prison.
