Lansdale Police are warning residents about a telephone scam where a person identifies himself as a member of the I.R.S., using the name “Roy Miller.”
Police say, on March 19th, an elderly resident received a call from Miller telling him that he owed 4,600 dollars for sending money overseas and then threatened him with penalties. The elderly victim purchased GreenDot cards and sent Miller 4000 dollars. The victim called police when the Miller wanted more money. The call came in from a 202 exchange. Police remind residents that the I.R.S does not ask taxpayers to pay through untraceable money cards.
