Funeral services have been released for former Lansdale Police Chief, Wallace “Wally” Hendricks. Hendricks, who passed away Monday, was a 27 year member of the Lansdale police department, beginning his career as a patrolman in 1953.
Services will be held Thursday night from 6pm to 8pm at Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, 667 Harleysville pike in Franconia Township. Another service will be held Friday morning from 10 to 11am. Hendricks will be laid to rest at Christ Covenant Church in Harleysville, 2200 Mainland Road, next Monday at 10am. Hendricks moved up the ranks at Lansdale P.D. during an eight year period after becoming a patrolman and then rising to the rank of sergeant. Hendricks became Chief of Police in 1961, a position he held until his retirement in 1980. Hendricks, a World War Two veteran, was 87 years old.
