Lansdale Police: I.R.S Phone Scam Still Being Used

Scammers using the ruse of acting as I.R.S. agents are at it again, but in this case, the intended victim did not send money.

Lansdale Police say the incident happened on April 24th when a woman reported getting a message on her voicemail. She returned the call to find a person telling her she’s in trouble with the I.R.S. and could lose her driver’s license for not paying taxes for the last 11 years. The woman started asking questions and the scammer eventually hung up. Lansdale Police urge anyone who receives such a call not send money and simply hang up. Lansdale police say, scammers will go after anyone, but residents from foreign countries are being targeted.
