East Norriton Man Charged With Homicide By Vehicle

A 28-year-old East Norriton man faces numerous charges, including homicide by vehicle, in connection with a crash which killed his co-worker. Police say, Adam Bermudez was using his cell phone on July 2nd when he drove through stop sign in Hilltown on Dublin and Bypass Roads at around 4:25 in the morning, causing the trash truck he was driving to overturn, killing 24-year-old Ricco Rios of Norristown. He faces a December 6th preliminary hearing. 

Car Hits Pole Knocking Out Power to School and Residents

Souderton Area High School and neighborhoods close to the school were without power for about three hours Thursday morning after a car hit a pole. Franconia Township Police say, just before 5am Thursday, a vehicle moving west on Lower Road hit a pole, knocking high tension wires off another pole. Police discovered blood in the car, but the  driver was not in the vehicle. Police later contacted the driver and are investigating the incident. Nearly 680 PPL customers lost power.

Former G.O.P Chairman Kerns, Arrested on Rape Charges

The former chair of the Montgomery County Republican Committee was charged with rape today.  Attorney Bob Kerns recently stepped down as party chair and was formally charged after a Grand Jury investigation.

Montco DA Risa Fermansays Kerns spiked a bottle of wine with the sleeping aid Ambien, “Once she was unconscious and unaware of what was happening, he sexually assaulted her. The Grand Jury also found that he also sexually assaulted her as he took back to her home in Franconia Township. The defendant delivered a controlled substance and sexually assaulted a woman at multiple locations during the course of their time together on October 25th."    

Authorities say the victim is a 51 year old part-time employee of Kerns' law firm and the incident occured following an employee gathering at a Blue Bell restaurant.

The 66 year old Kerns was sent to Montgomery County Prison in lieu of one million dollars bail.


  

Deadbeat Parents Rounded Up in Early Morning Arrests.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department hit the streets at 1am Tuesday morning. It’s target, deadbeat parents who have failed to pay child support.

“We had warrants for 37 people. We picked up 15 males and three females between 1am and 5am Tuesday. Since Tuesday morning we had six more people turn themselves in. Two of those were on the top ten wanted. We’ve got numerous tips on other people on  that list and other people who are on the website.”

That’s Montgomery county sheriff, Eileen Behr, who says, the department hopes to collect 200,000 dollars from the people who were arrested. Behr was a guest Thursday morning on WNPV’S AM Edition.
