A Lansdale man, on the lamb from Florida authorities, won’t be making it to pawn stars anytime soon. He was arrested just after three Monday morning in Lansdale borough’s Stoney Creek Park. The park is closed during the overnight hours. Police say, one of the two people inside a car was identified as 28-year old Charles Farnsworth, who is wanted by Sarasota police for allegedly dealing in stolen property and false ownership of pawn items. Farnsworth is being held on 150,000 cash bail in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, pending extradition to Florida.
A one-time North Wales resident will avoid jail time in connection with the theft of copper wiring, but he faces five years of court supervision. Authorities say Robert Diffenderfer conspired with two other men to steal copper wiring from utility poles in Pottstown and upper Providence. Pole say, Diffenderfer and his two accomplices committed the crimes in March and May of 2010. Verizon customers complained about service, which clued the company in on the source of the problem. Judge Thomas Branca has ordered Diffenderfer and the two other men to pay for the cost of the stolen copper, estimated at 8,974.
