There’s 50 fewer pounds of pot on the streets of Montgomery County today after the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office reveals the outcome of a bust that used the strategy of wire tapping to make arrests and break-up a marijuana operation that used Norristown as its staging point for delivery. Six suspects are behind bars, including 26-year-old Ryan Gavlick and and 36-year-old Jason Bishop. According to the investigation, Gavlick used 14 cell phones to avoid detection since 2005, when he first came to the attention of police. The bust went down on March 8th when Gavlick attempted to sell pot to undercover officers. Police confiscated 50 pounds of pot, more than 23-grand in suspected drug proceeds, two firearms and various cell phones.
A man who has hit banks in Bucks and Montgomery counties, has drawn the attention of the F.B.I The armed bandit’s latest bank robbery happened on March 30th in Ambler at a PNC branch on Bethlehem pike. He’s also the likely suspect who stopped in at the Colonial American Bank in Horsham last June for an armed withdrawl. The F.B.I considers the suspect a serial bank robber, believing he has hit several banks across the region. Police say, video surveillance shows he’s armed with a semi-automatic handgun, sometimes making it visible in a holster, where tellers can see it. He usually wears suits with a white hood with eye slits. Police believe he’s a white male,5-10 to 6-2, possibly with blue eyes. He also used a hood during another armed bank robbery. Trial for a Lansdale man accused of murdering his mother on October 31st is not likely to see an April 26th court date. Warren Pennick, who walked in to the Lansdale Borough Police department on Halloween night and told officers he killed his mother, is seeking a three month delay. Police say, the 54-year-old man stabbed his mother, lorriane, several times. Detectives found the 79-year-old woman at the bottom of the steps in the basement of her Salford Avenue home. A psychologist, who examined Pennick, determined that he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia. Judge Carolyn Carluccio will make a decision to determine if a new trail date is warranted.
A 22 year old Souderton man is sentenced to five years probation for his involvement with a 15-year-old girl. Prosecutors say, Angel Aviles had sex with the girl and shared marijuana with her. The teen later complained to a nurse at school about having stomach pains. Further tests at the hospital confirmed that the girl was pregnant. Aviles admitted he have sex with the girl on several occasions and purchased marijuana. The encounters happened in November of 2011. Aviles was charge with corrupting the morals of a minor and ordered to pay a 250-dollar fine. The affair came to light in December of 2011 when the girl’s father confronted Aviles about the situation. Aviles then came clean to Police about his involvement with the teen.
