Judge Orders Trail for Hatfield Twp Man in Wife’s Murder

A Hatfield Township man who police say stabbed his wife to death in the early morning hours of June 7th in their Hatfield Township home on Denbeigh Drive will stand trial. A hearing was held Wednesday afternoon in District Court in Souderton, where a Hatfield Township Police Officer, a Detective and information from the county coroner revealed that Mona Elswaldy Mitwalli was stabbed 15 times, causing major damage to her internal organs, arms, face and neck. Mitwalli told officers his wife tried to stab him and he disarmed her, turning the knife on his wife. Video surveillance cameras were installed in the home, but a key piece of equipment is still missing. Mitwalli told police he suspected his wife of cheating on him. He had her committed to a psychiatric facility, but medical staff determined she was not ill and soon released. A protection order filed by mitwalli against his wife was granted, but a judge quickly dismissed it. Mitwalli’s next court hearing is pending. He faces charges of 1st and 3rd degree murder. 

Lansdale Man Sentenced in Connection Theft and Police Chase

A burglary that started in Lansdale Borough and ended in a police chase in Montgomery Township leads to a prison sentence for 32-year-old Ronald Solomon. Lansdale Borough Police say, Solomon burglarized a recycling business on West 7th Street, just before 8am, on January 12th. Police spotted Solomon’s vehicle and attempted to pull him over, but he fled through the borough at a high rate of speed. Police say, he tried to dump the property he stole at another business. He then continued his flight from police, driving to his ex-wife’s residence in Montgomery Township. Police arrested him in the bathroom of the home. Solomon, of South Chestnut Street, Lansdale Borough, will serve a prison term of up to 23 months. According to court records, Solomon has already served just over a month of prison time.

Robbery in Lansdale Parking Lot Sends Man To Prison

A  41  year old Hatfield Township man is headed to prison after being sentenced in connection with robbing a woman in a Lansdale Borough parking lot, in the area of South Broad Street and Jenkins Avenue, last October. Police say, the robbery happened near a sports bar. Stacey Beckett plead guilty to the robbery. He will serve a term of 33 months to six years in the Montgomery county prison. According to court records, Beckett previously served time in prison for burglaries in the North Penn area.

Man Charged In Alleged Water Filtration Scam Waives Hearing

A man accused of collecting money for a home water filtration system that he never installed is moving closer to trial in Bucks County Court.
