Gerlach: Repeal And Replace Obamacare

Jim GerlachCongressman Jim Gerlach, who represents parts of Montgomery, Chester and Berks Counties, says he will work to repeal and replace the health care reform package Democrats pushed through congress if he is re-elected. “The great majority of the legislation is onerous and burdensome and not the right direction to go to deal with the health reforms that are needed, so I think we need to repeal those and replace them with other common-sense, market-based, consumer-based approaches to expanding the availability of health insurance and making it more affordable.”

He says small business people and senior citizens tell him they are unhappy because they face large premium increases, and he believes Republicans will do something about it after the votes are counted in November.

“We’re going to pick up a lot of seats, and the question is if we are able to take control of one or both of those chambers, can we delay or change the Obamacare legislation, and I think the answer will be yes.”

Gerlach says Republicans could gain control of the house or senate or both, but President Obama will still be able to veto legislation he doesn’t like.  He appeared Monday on the WNPV talk program Comment Please by Univest.
