Republican Congressman Charlie Dent says his opponent in the November 2 election, Democrat John Callahan, is running a campaign without a message. “They’ve been running an issue-free and fact-free campaign. He’s really not talking about much of anything except trying to smear me. My opponent supported the healthcare law and the stimulus law, but you don’t hear him talking about that, other than kind of making stuff up about me. He’s running on an agenda that’s a contradiction. John Callahan says I’m the guy from Washington, but I live in Allentown. He’s the guy who supports the Washington agenda.”
Dent says Vice President Joe Biden was in the district Monday, campaigning for Callahan for the second time, and he has strong support from Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and the other people who are promoting reckless spending in Washington. Dent is the incumbent, and Callahan is the mayor of Bethlehem. Independent Jake Towne is also in the race for the congressional seat in the 15th District, which includes parts of Montgomery and Lehigh Counties. Dent appeared Tuesday on the WNPV talk program Comment Please by Univest.
