Sestak Campaigns In Lansdale

Joe_SestakCongressman Joe Sestak (pictured here) was in Lansdale Wednesday afternoon, taking his U.S. Senate campaign to the West Main Diner. Democrat Sestak said his Republican opponent, Pat Toomey, voted with the majority to approve unfair trade practices when he was in congress.

“You can invest in a Chinese factory as a U.S. corporation, close your factory here, but your profits in that factory over in China are never taxed, so that’s where they go for cheap labor.  Just give us a fair opportunity.  Don’t give them the tax incentives to drive jobs overseas, Mr. Toomey.  It’s about American jobs right here at home.”

Sestak said Toomey voted to cut the Small Business Administration in half, and charge fees for small business loans, at the same time he voted in favor of tax breaks for large corporations that ship jobs overseas.  Lansdale Borough Councilman and small business owner Jack Hansen said Sestak has the right message at the right time.

“Right now business is picking up.  It’s slow, but it’s picking up, so it’s showing that the economy is starting to make a turn.  The stimulus has helped, and with people like Joe Sestak in the senate it’s going to help my business even more.”

Hansen said getting people back to work and making them proud to bring home a paycheck is the key to getting the country back on track, and with Joe Sestak in the U.S. Senate it will happen a little faster.
