3 Incumbent Members Of Congress Win

Allyson_SchwartzDemocrat Allyson Schwartz (pictured here) won a fourth term in the 13th Congressional District, which is about half in Montgomery County and half in Northeast Philadelphia. She led the healthcare reform effort, and she is concerned about what Republicans will do when they take control of the house.

“They want to stop these consumer protections, these opportunities for Americans to buy affordable health insurance and to be able to have the consumer protections that exist right now, today, because of health reform and, yes, of course I’m concerned about that.”

She defeated Republican businessman Dee Adcock of Abington.

In the Sixth District, Congressman Jim Gerlach won re-election.  He says the voters made it clear that they did not like what was going on in Washington.

“The People were saying they don’t like what President Obama is doing, or what Speaker Pelosi is doing or what Harry Reid is doing, so therefore under our two-party system, Republicans please come in and change this thing and turn it around, but you’ve got a little short leash there, and if you don’t do the job we’ll change it again.”

Gerlach defeated Berks County Surgeon Manan Trivedi in the Sixth District, which includes parts of Montgomery, Chester and Berks Counties.  In the 15th District, which is partly in Montgomery county and partly in the Lehigh Valley, incumbent Republican Charlie Dent defeated Democratic Mayor John Callahan of Bethlehem.
