New Britain Borough Council is considering an ordinance that would allow sexually-oriented businesses in light industrial zones. There are only two.  One is along Bristol Road by the railroad tracks and the other is at the Delaware Valley Concrete site on Shady Retreat Road.  State law requires municipalities to set aside areas where adult bookstores, arcades and similar businesses are allowed.  They would need special exceptions from the Zoning Hearing Board, and would have to be at least 500 feet from residential neighborhoods, schools, churches, funeral homes and a number of other things.
