Lawyer Trying To Halt Barnes Move
A lawsuit aims to stop the Barnes Foundation from moving its world-renowned art collection from Lower Merion to Philadelphia. The suit, filed by lawyer Sam Stretton this week in Montgomery County Orphans’ Court, says former Attorney General Mike Fisher and former Governor Ed Rendell used back-room pressure to make the move happen. It says the pressure was not revealed in court during arguments on another effort to halt the move three years ago. Construction of a new Barnes is already underway in the museum district along the city’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
