Dems Aiming For Top Montco Offices Speak Out On WNPV

wnpv_politicsThe two Democrats running for Montgomery County Commissioner aired their issues Thursday on the WNPV talk program Comment Please by Univest. Whitemarsh Township Supervisor Leslie Richards said she believes the voters are frustrated with the current commissioners because partisanship is interfering with good government.

“What they should be doing is working together for the county, and not worrying about who’s calling who a name that, frankly, I wouldn’t even let my fourth-grade daughter hear.”

Her running-mate, State Representative Josh Shapiro, said they hope to become the majority commissioners, and if that happens they will not shut out the minority commissioner.

“We’re going to work closely with that person because the public will have elected that individual to an important post, and we want results, and I think that’s what the people of Montgomery County want.  They’re sick and tired of the bickering.  They’re sick and tired of the back and forth.  They just want results, and Leslie has a proven track record of doing that, and I do as well.”

Shapiro said the swing voters who will decide the election do not care about party labels.  They just want good, competent leadership.  Their Republican opponents are incumbent County Commissioner Bruce Castor and Lower Merion Township Commissioner Jenny Brown.
