States Reach Delaware River Plan Agreement

creekPennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and New York have reached an agreement on a plan to protect the Delaware River and people living near it. A key provision will have New York City testing ways to lower reservoir levels in the Catskill Mountains when flooding is threatened downstream.  New Jersey Environmental Protection Commissioner Bob Martin says it will provide both drought relief and flood protection, and also protect fish and other marine life better, by controlling where saltwater meets fresh water and keeping the water temperature cooler.  A Pennsylvania DEP official says the agreement is not final, and details still need to be worked out.
