City Red Light Camera Fines Benefit Suburban Projects

traffic_lightGovernor Tom Corbett says fines collected through red light enforcement cameras in Philadelphia are paying for a number of suburban traffic projects. In Montgomery County they include $782,500 for traffic control upgrades in Hatfield Township, $250,000 for signal upgrades in Upper Dublin, $302,335 for improved signal timing along Route 202 in Upper Merion, $229,600 for coordinating four traffic signals along Germantown Pike in Plymouth Township and $200,000 for a traffic control system and wheelchair ramps in Norristown.  In Bucks County they include $70,000 for pedestrian improvements and a solar-powered fire station warning system in Chalfont, $34,500 for a traffic control system in New Britain, $26,950 for LED signal upgrades in Buckingham and $12,500 for an emergency pre-emption signal at Route 563 and Park Avenue in Perkasie.
