Plumstead Joins CB Regional Police Talks

Plumstead Township has joined talks aimed at creating a Central Bucks Regional Police Department. The township supervisors have approved joining in a study along with Doylestown Township and Borough and New Britain Borough.  An earlier study found that a combined regional police department would save money in the long run through greater efficiency, but it would cost more in the short run because of startup expenses and the probable need for a new police station in a central location.  The Doylestown and New Britain Borough departments have been acting as one for about a year, sharing the same chief, and Doylestown Township Police Chief Stephen White has been a long-time advocate of a regional department.
