Healthcare Reform?

It seems like crunch time for health-care reform.   Central to the debate is the impact of the public option and the feeling of some that it will inevitably lead to a national program.
Local Congressman Jim Gerlach made that point recently on CP by U.  He's a republican and they usually make that point.   From the other side of the isle,  local US  Rep Allyson Schwartz says the public option is only a part of reform and not the so called 'Trojan horse' that will lead us down the slippery slope of a single payer system.   She too made her case for reform recently on CP by U.  I've always said lets not screw up what we have.  I think there are a variety of interim steps that could ease the issue of the un-insured, why not begin there?
