The Montgomery County Commissioners have approved an Open Space Capital Budget that calls for more than $17 million in spending over the next five years.

$11 million will come from money the county already has, with no new borrowing, and state and federal matches and grants will cover the rest.

Finance Director Uri Monson says the county will focus on maintaining parks and trails it already has, not buying more property.
