Proposed Lansdale Smoking Ban Stays In Committee
Administration and finance Committee Chair Dan Dunigan sent it back to the Parks and Recreation Committee, where it originated. He says it went too far.
“It got a bit off-track from initially having a narrow focus on places where children are invited to play and there was a recommendation to make it much larger, and as you get larger you add layers of complications. It sounds kind of simple. Just ban it, but it’s not practical. You start to deal with how to enforce it and what it really means.”
Dunigan says the earlier proposal to ban lighting up in parks, except possibly in designated smoking areas, could come up for a vote late this year or early next year.
