Bucks Co Justice Center Job Scaled Back

The Bucks County Commissioners have voted to scale back the justice center now under construction in Doylestown.

Two change orders approved this week would eliminate two courtrooms and ten conference rooms on the fifth floor, cutting the cost by more than $290,000.

Commissioners Charley Martin and Diane Marseglia voted for the change orders, while Commissioner Rob Loughery voted against them.

Martin said the building will still have 14 courtrooms and 72 meeting rooms, which should be more than enough, and the change orders will save the current taxpayers money.

Loughery said leaving half of the fifth floor unfinished doesn’t make good business sense because completing the work in the future with different contractors will cost the taxpayers more in the long run.
