The same sex marriage saga in Montgomery County, now immersed in the court process, is beginning to filter through local towns and borough’s, including Lansdale Borough where community activist Richard Strahm took Mayor Andy Szekely to task for refusing to marry him and his long time partner at a recent council meeting. Szekely says he took an oath to uphold the law
“Who gives me the right to perform a wedding, the state. According to the State today, it is against the law to perform same sex marriages. It’s plain and simple, and as much as you don’t like that, that is the law.”
Szekely says, Strahm may be trying to derail his reelection campaign.
