Pa. Pollster: Time Running Out For Trans. Funding Bill

Leading Pennsylvania pollster, Doctor Terry Madonna says, it might be now or never, or at least until next fall’s election for a transportation funding bill.

“Most people think if it’s not done I the next couple of weeks, it will not get done through this session. I’m not sure about that, but I am sure that the voters I polled on this in the state are in favor of it.”

Madonna was a guest on the Monday’s Comment Please By Univest Program with Darryl Berger. A two and a half billion dollar bill was passed in the state senate earlier this year, but has not come up for a vote in the state house, where some Republican Reps think it generates too much money.

Toomey: Pres. Could Drop Med. Device Portion, End Shutdown

As the government shutdown enters its third week, Pennsylvania U.S. Senator, Pat Toomey says, it’s apparent that the president will not sign legislation that de-funds the affordable care act, but he believes the President may negotiate on another part of the act.

“Hopefully, repeal some of the more egregious laws in Obama Care that have been acknowledged on both sides. I’ve long been an advocate of repealing the Medical Device Tax, part because that enjoys very bipartisan support.”

Toomey adds, two thirds of Senate Democrats are in agreement with Republicans on the medical device issue.

Former Ass. D.A Will Run For Judge in Montco. On Nov 5th

After years of serving as an assistant district attorney in Montgomery County and serving clients as a defense attorney, Maureen Coggins will take the next step in her law career with a run for judge. Coggins says, the experience with victims and defendants make her uniquely qualified to hear cases in Montgomery County.

“I’ve prosecuted 1st murder jury trials and I’ve defended 1st degree murder jury trials. I think it’s important for a judge to have been on both sides of the issue and be able to look at something and know there’s two sides to every story and that’s what I’ve really done my whole career.”

Coggins will run on the Republican ticket on November 5th. Coggins was a guest on the AM Edition with Darryl Berger Tuesday morning.
