The North Penn School Board has approved an agreement with the Council Rock District to share the services of an Energy and Operational Efficiency Manager. Thursday night the board hired Thomas Schneider, who is Council Rock’s current Supervisor of Operational Services. He becomes a North Penn employee December 1, and the district will bill Council Rock for work he does there for the rest of the school year. North Penn currently spends about $4 million per year on energy needs. Director of Business Administration Robert Schoch says the district has cut energy costs by about $1 million over the last few years, while Council Rock has managed to cut them by nearly $3 million. The two districts are comparable in size.
