The Souderton Area School Board has approved a calendar for the new school year that has classes starting on August 29, the Monday before Labor Day. Superintendent of Schools Frederick Johnson says it will give students more time in the classroom before standardized tests start in the spring.  He says the kids will be expected to have a full year of learning when the PSSA’s start in March, so they need to front-load the calendar as much as possible.  They will attend classes Monday through Thursday starting August 29, and then have Friday and Monday off for Labor Day weekend.
