The Founding President of Montgomery County Community College, Doctor Leroy Brendlinger, has died at the age of 92. He died Wednesday at the Frederick Mennonite Community. It was one of the first two-year community colleges in Pennsylvania when it opened in 1964 on a small campus in Conshohocken with 128 students and 17 faculty members. Thanks to rapid growth, the county commissioners bought a 186-acre farm in Blue Bell in 1972, and it became the main campus. Doctor Brendlinger remained involved with the college after his 1981 retirement, mainly as an advocate of westward expansion into Pottstown.
