Election Wrap: Local

As dominant a victory as Obama scored in Montgomery and Bucks Counties, his victory seemed to have little significant impact down-ticket.   The local congressional delegation
was all re-elected.   In the 13th District Marina Kats waged a low impact campaign against Allyson Schwartz.  In the 8th, Patrick Murphy served notice that he will likely retain the seat until he seeks higher office.   Tom Manion ran a creditable campaign and is
an impressive individual, but didn't exhibit the fire-in-the-belly to make the necessary impression.  Sestak in the 7th and Dent in the 15th won handily.   In the 6th, a district created for Jim Gerlach, it's always a battle.  Had the opponent been stronger and better funded Gerlach might not have survived.   But compared to '06 it was a veritable cakewalk.   Yesterday on 'Comment Please by Univest' Montco D's chairman Marcel Groen addressed the issue of congressional redistricting.   The R's controlled the process
after the 2000 census and screwed over Montgomery County so that portions of 7 districts represent the county.   Rick Santorum seems to be the architect of that debacle. Groen says he'll push for the county to have a single dominant district.  I think that would be a good thing!
