A man who was credited with bringing national attention to North Penn High School’s marching band has passed away at the age of 66. Steve Frederick’s love of music blossomed at West Chester University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in music. Frederick also earned a master’s degree in secondary school administration at Villanova. Frederick was a music teacher in the Colonial and Central Bucks School District’s, influencing many students. But his creative energies would have the greatest impact at North Penn High School. Frederick was North Penn’s band director from 1971 until 1990. In 1992, Frederick was named principal at Penndale Junior High School. Frederick would return to North Penn as assistant principal in 1995 and become principal in 2000, retiring in 2003. Frederick was a frequent host on WNPV AM-1440. Steve Frederick passed away Saturday after a long fight with cancer.
